Choosing a chew toy for Odin: size and inspection
Odin is a strong dog of roughly 26–30 kg. Odin has used KONG Extreme L; compare its fit and wear before choosing the same size for another dog. The right choice depends on the dog’s mouth, chewing style and how the toy wears over time.
Start with fit, not just weight
The retailer’s weight range for size L includes Odin’s approximate weight, but body weight alone cannot prove the fit. Compare the toy’s actual dimensions with his mouth. A toy that can lodge at the back of the mouth or be swallowed is unsuitable.
Watch the first sessions
Introduce the toy while supervising. Check whether Odin tries to swallow it whole, tears off chunks or damages an edge. Remove it if pieces break loose. A tough label does not mean indestructible.
Make the comparison useful
Compare the same size and version across stores, plus shipping and returns. If L is too small for his chewing style, check the maker’s larger sizes rather than assuming a lower price makes L the better choice.
